Caring for Your Polyurethane Floors
Your new wood surface is a hard plastic, and doesn't require wax or any other type
of protective coating. In fact, you should never wax your floors.
Cleaning Advice for a Polyurethane Floor
Cleaning a polyurethane surface can be done by:
- Vacuum with a floor brush. Don’t use a hard plastic attachment because these are made of hard urethane that can scratch your new floor.
- Wipe the surface with products for "non-wax hardwood floors" or slightly dampened a cloth or sponge with plain water.
Preserving Your Polyurethane Floor
- Be sure to use floor protector pads made of felt on all furniture.
- Avoid tracking dirt, small rocks and sand from your shoes. This type of gritty dirt will quickly make a new floor look old.
- Avoid dropping heavy objects or walking in high-heeled shoes on your hardwood floor.
- You may touch up your floor with any oil-based polyurethane. Clean the area and then apply a light coat of polyurethane with a brush.
